Islamophobia is a very real threat to the social, emotional, academic, and physical growth of all of our young people. In a world where young people are constantly bombarded with information that directly attacks their identities or the identities of their peers, sometimes it can be challenging knowing exactly how to be an ally for your students while teaching lessons of inclusivity, community, and equality. My Muslim Student is an interactive training which explores the realities of working with Muslim students by contextualizing our politically charged environment and centering identity-based learning of the Muslim community. The training will provide a safe space to ask questions about Islam, Muslims, specific scenarios you may encounter, etc. Along with learning important facts about Islam, Muslims, and young Muslims, participants will also take part in interactive workshops that teach the values of identity sharing, storytelling, and community.
